Hampi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Protected monuments can have rules, fees or restrictions on professional shoots, tripods and equipment, and some areas require care and permission. Two non-negotiables:
- Respect the site — no climbing on or damaging monuments, and follow all posted guidance.

Season and timing
- Best months: October–February — Hampi is hot, so cooler weather matters.
- Golden hours only: shoot at sunrise and late afternoon; the midday sun is harsh and the heat draining.
- Days needed: two minimum — it’s ~6 hours from Bangalore (by road; train/flight options exist to nearby hubs), so allow travel and a heat/weather buffer.
What to pack
- Two outfits suited to the landscape (earthy and rich tones work beautifully)
- Comfortable footwear for uneven, rocky terrain
- Sun protection, water and plenty of it — the heat is real
- Touch-up essentials and a realistic, unrushed schedule
